You know the legend. The oral tradition dates back generations: beneath the murky waters of a Scottish loch lies a creature in waiting. Whatever it is, they all agree — something is lurking within the loch. In collaboration with the Scottish Watches podcast, the latest release from Spinnaker pays tribute to the infamous Loch Ness Monster; just like sightings of the mythical creature, the Spinnaker x Scottish Watches Fleuss Automatic “Nessie” is limited. Only 500 pieces will be made.
The Fleuss Automatic “Nessie” LE is riddled with subtle tributes. The gradient blue dial features a wave pattern, hinting at the surface of the loch. At 3:00, the lumed figure of the Loch Ness Monster appears in profile. The chapter ring features the coordinates 57° 18’ N, 4° 27’ W between 12:00 and 2:00, the location of Loch Ness in Scotland. The blue domed acrylic bezel insert is marked with the saltire of Saint Andrew, the national flag of Scotland. Flip the watch over, and the display caseback is adorned with the saltire at the center, blue and white waves occupying the rest of the glass. The movement’s rotor, branded with Spinnaker and Scottish Watches, features a whimsical lumed Nessie motif. The watch also has a unique date wheel and comes mounted on a blue leather strap.
Powering the Fleuss Automatic Nessie LE is the venerable Seiko NH35. One of the most popular movements among brands at this price point, the NH35 is a Japanese-made automatic movement featuring 24 jewels, hacking, hand-winding, a 41-hour power reserve, a frequency of 21,600 beats per hour, and a date complication.
